Abstract

The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) was deployed in 2007, and the AU Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM ) was formally launched in 2025. The two missions are not just separated in time by nearly 20 years but also by vastly different geopolitical contexts, each defined less by Somali priorities than by the shifting agendas of external funders and troop-contributing countries.
