Abstract

Handling Trump's aggression towards Greenland, the Government of Denmark has engaged in two balancing acts which both have demanded intimate coordination with the Government of Greenland: First, after decades of near-total demilitarisation, Greenland is being re-armed. But rather than actual fighting capacity, the purpose is to instill a sense of security — in two audiences with very different insecurities: The current President of the United States and the people of Greenland. Second, the two Governments have — in tandem — been walking a rhetorical tightrope when making two overlapping narratives about Greenlandic self-determination and Danish sovereignty sound as one.
