Historisk set har det yderste højre i Frankrig altid været imod Republikken, altså det demokrati, der blev skabt i Frankrig efter Den Franske Revolution. Dette kapitel undersøger forholdet mellem det yderste franske højre og Republikken i dag. Har Marie Le Pens parti, Rassemblement National (National Samling) og hendes niece Marion Maréchal forliget sig med republikken og dens værdier, der har rod i tanker fra Oplysningstiden?
