Abstract

Following the killing of George Floyd, protesters are calling for far-reaching reforms to the police in the US, such as giving them fewer resources and tasks. The big question is whether it will work. According to DIIS researcher Peter Albrecht, we should look to the Global South to understand why taking money from the police is not necessarily a good idea.
