Abstract

Much of the High-Level Thematic Debate (HLTD) on Peace and Security in the General Assembly in May 2016 was predictably centred on prevention. Participants made the case for greater efforts to prevent conflict from erupting or re-erupting in the first place and committing to sustaining peace. This commentary explores how prevention might be operationalized.
