    Abstract

Internationally, there has been widespread condemnation of the recent military coup in Mali. Because military coups are never good for democracy – and especially not when the military is an official partner. But in Mali, the reaction is more ambivalent. Here, many people hope that a “corrective coup” can help create a new future.
