Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The project will map the history of right wing international thought and rhetoric, providing a model for understanding today's far right as a distinct if variegated ideological project – not just ill-defined 'populism'. Against that backdrop, it will perform a series of deep comparative studies of right-wing parties and movements in key national contexts (US, UK, France, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Russia), mapping their specific ideological and rhetorical forms, as well as the transnational influences and networks between them.

WoR, in other words, is a project on both the origins and symptoms of right wing ideas in a changing liberal order, as well as of the role of identity, race, religion and new media in that disruptive context.
