Ph.d. project: Urban Violence and Citizenship in São Paulo

The aim of the PhD project is to contribute to understandings of how urban violence affects citizenship in megacities where insecurity is high and de facto access to citizenship is unequal. This is explored through the lens of security provision in São Paulo, Brazil, where public, private and informal security bodies co-exist.
