    Description

Jessica Larsen is reporting on maritime security for the Minsitry of Defence.

Larsen conducted her PhD research between 2014-2017 at DIS in a collaboration with the Faculty of Law, Copenhagen University. The project examined the role of law in global governance. It took its empirical point of departure in the practices of counter-piracy (CP) law enforcement off Somalia.
The project investigated how the practical interpretation of the law related to certain political and normative positions to shed contextual light on the role of law in global governance. The project combined law, political theory and anthropology.
Fieldwork was conducted in locations central to CP law enforcement, namely on board a naval vessel in the Indian Ocean conducting CP policing and in the judiciary and penitentiary of the Seychelles and Mauritius.
