    Description

    This project explores the changing strategic roles of China in the Persian Gulf and the Greater Middle East (especially Afghanistan): from economic expansion to increased political and security involvement. It investigates potential rivalry or possibilities of cooperation between USA and China following US decreased and China increased interests in the region. It analyzes the expectations among the Arabs to China and how China responds to these expectations.

    Activities involves publication of reports on the question if China is challenging the US in the Persian Gulf and explores China new approach to countering extremism domestically (Xinjiang) and in The Greater Middle East.

    Activities also involves in cooperation with Copenhagen University organizing an international conference: China and the Challenges of the Greater Middle East which will take place in Copenhagen November 10 2015.
