Personal profile

Research areas

Trine Rosengren Pejstrup works at the intersection of defense and security policy and international relations. She has researched broadly in disarmament and armament issues, including the UN's disarmament and arms control regimes as instruments for peacebuilding, long-term consequences of armament such as arms races, increased global arms trade, the development of new military technologies, as well as the Danish defense industry's position in a period characterized by accelerating global rearmament.

Current research

As a PhD fellow with support from the Danish Independent Research Fund, she currently investigates how countries in the Global South interpret and respond to the West's extensive military armament and security policy discourses. Focusing on South Africa, the project analyzes how the country's foreign policy both challenges and at times confirms the liberal international order - particularly through their approaches to disarmament, arms control, and conceptions of international peace and security. In a time characterized by increased militarization, the project contributes to a deeper understanding of how alternative security perspectives from the Global South can inform international debates on peace and stability.
