Research areas
Lasse Skjoldager Eskildsen studies terrorism and political violence and the institutional conditions shaping their occurrence. His work examines radicalisation mechanisms and the effects of repression on terrorism and political violence.
A central part of his research analyses how civil and political rights influence terrorism across different regime types. He also studies the role of the internet and digital communication in radicalisation processes, as well as the relationship between populism and political violence. His research further examines how political institutions and ideological competition shape patterns of terrorism.
His research primarily relies on cross-national quantitative analysis of terrorism and political institutions.
