Research areas

Lars Engberg-Pedersen’s research concentrates on international norms, their evolution and how they influence change at national and local levels. Moreover, he works on Danish and international development cooperation, its administration and its changing nature.

Current research

Lars Engberg-Pedersen is working on international norms in as diverse fields as gender equality, aid management, sovereign bonds and green financing. He is also writing an article on Danish aid management practices in light of the aid effectiveness agenda, addressing the issue of norm decline.

Projects

Lars Engberg-Pedersen participates in a research programme financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Green Financing for Agrifood SMEs in South Africa (GreenFi­­) 2025-2029 studying how global norms on green financing are addressed in South Africa. Together with colleagues from Ethiopia and DIIS he has just finished a project on Global Norms and Violence Against Women in Ethiopia (GLOW) also financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The results of that project will come out in January 2026 in a book from Edward Elgar. Moreover, he is participating in a research application on the elaboration and implementation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda.
