Research areas

Kristin Eggeling studies international relations and diplomacy. Her research focuses on everyday diplomatic practices, both in formal institutions and beyond. Kristin has studied different aspects of diplomacy, ranging from cultural diplomacy to multilateralism and the intersection of diplomacy and the corporate world. For her research, Kristin has done ethnographic fieldwork in the Gulf, Central Asia, Europe and the US. In 2023, Kristin was awarded the Anthony Deos Young Scholar Award in Diplomatic Studies by the International Studies Association (ISA).

Current research

Kristin currently works on two projects: a book about everyday diplomatic life in Brussels and an ethnographic exploration of the EU’s global digital policy.
