Research areas
Júlia Lopes is an international relations scholar and a PhD candidate in Military Sciences at the Meira Mattos Institute of the Brazilian Army Command and General Staff College (ECEME). She is a researcher at the Peace Operations Research Laboratory (LABPOP) and a member of the Brazilian Network on Peace Operations (REBRAPAZ).
Her research focuses on international security, peace operations, gender and security, and public policy analysis. She is particularly interested in the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, examining how gender perspectives are integrated into security governance and peacebuilding processes. Her work also explores the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of public policies related to peace, security, and gender equality through comparative and qualitative approaches.
Current research
Júlia Lopes is a Guest PhD Student at the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) in the Global Development and Green Transitions Research Unit under the supervision of Dr. Marie Kolling. During her stay at DIIS, she is conducting research on the Women, Peace and Security agenda, focusing on the National Action Plans of Brazil and Denmark. Drawing on public policy analysis frameworks, her research examines policy formulation, implementation, and revision processes, contributing to broader discussions on gender, security governance, and the localization of the WPS agenda.
