Cecilie Felicia Stokholm Banke works within the field of contemporary European history and politics, memory politics and how the past informs current policies.
Current research
A historian by training I work with contemporary Danish and European foreign policy and the relation between history, memory and politics. I have done work on Turkish foreign policy, on Denmark before, during and after the Second World War, on Denmark and the EU and European defence and security policy, the history of the Danish welfare state, post-war Holocaust memory and contemporary antisemitism. I have been in charge of a number of commissioned studies at DIIS, including the one on Denmark's 20 years of engagement in Afghanistan and on European defence cooperation and the Danish opt-out on defence. I was also part of a commissioned study for the Danish government on Danish refugee policy towards German Jewish refugees. My current interests are centered around the current discombabulation in Europe on international order and the future of multilateralism.
