Lecture in Nordic Masters course, "Feminist Political Philosophy and PBL"
In this lecture I discuss the contributions made by feminist philosophers to reflecting on problems of violence. There is an ambivalence in feminist philosophy in addressing issues of violence linked to the issue that not just women suffer violence, and women don't just suffer violence. I identify three conceptual frameworks for analyzing the relation between gender and violence, and consider in particular the contributions of Carol Cohn, Iris Marion Young, and Patricia Owens to the analysis of gender, sexuality and the political.
