The instrumentalisation of migration: ‘Hybrid warfare’ at Europe's external borders?

Activity: Participating in or Organising an EventParticipation in or Organisation of Workshop, Roundtable, Seminar, Course

    Description

This seminar examines how migrants are increasingly 'instrumentalised' in 'hybrid warfare' strategies that blur the line between migration governance and coercion. It explores three frontlines: Russia and Ukraine, Poland and Belarus, and the Sahel. This event is the third in the four-part seminar series Migration and Coercion in a Disjointed World, jointly organised by CECA – Center for Coercion and Accountability and the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS). The series explores how displacement, mobility, and migration governance are increasingly weaponised in a turbulent global order, and what this means for migrants, states, and humanitarian norms.
