Tanzania 2015 - The election outcomes

Activity: Participating in or Organising an EventParticipation in or Organisation of Workshop, Roundtable, Seminar, Course

    Description

Sunday the 25th of October Tanzanians went to the polls to elect a new president, new parliamentarians and new local government councilors. Not since Independence had the race been this close. The major opposition parties had formed an alliance, UKAWA, to topple the ruling party, CCM. This was believed to enhance their chances of a successful election outcome. How did the elections go? We already know that results are contested and that the elections in Zanzibar have been nullified by the Zanzibar Electoral Commission. The question is if – and to what extent - this affects the stability of the country. This seminar will be looking at the election process as well as the election outcomes.
