    Description

The Permanent Mission of Denmark, The Danish Ministry of Defence and the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) are pleased to invite you to a closed-door workshop on new developments relating to training peacekeepers on protection of civilians (POC). The event will take place in United Nations Conference Room D on Monday, June 27, 2016, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. At this meeting, DIIS will present the report Preparing for Protection of Civilians which captures the findings of a recently concluded global survey on pre-deployment training particularly focusing on POC. The survey was funded by the Government of Denmark and was undertaken by the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS), an independent research institution. The presentation continues the conversation from the first workshop on pre-deployment training on POC organized by the Government of Denmark, DIIS and IPI in December 2015. DPKO will use the opportunity to provide participants with an update on current and planned training and resource development initiatives relating to POC. Finally, Col D.G. Misra, Military Adviser, Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations will share his views on pre-deployment training including on POC from the perspective of Troop Contributing Countries and their training centres. Participants will be invited to share their perspectives and experience on pre-deployment training on POC.
