Description
Nature-based Solutions have gained attention in the climate, biodiversity and development agendas. But how do we know when an intervention is NbS, and when it is not? How do we know what good NbS consists of, and how can we verify and monitor NbS projects and avoid that “NbS” becomes a green-washing exercise?Following a common standard for NbS can help address these questions by defining criteria and indicators that can be used to develop activities, review ideas, assess progress, identify successes and failures, and hold decision-makers and funders accountable to NbS commitments.
This seminar will use the IUCN Global Standard for NbS (to which Denmark adheres) as a point of departure for discussing how NbS standards can be applied in practice, with a particular focus on governance and biodiversity issues. The seminar will discuss early experiences, how an inclusive process can be ensured, what the risks and challenges are, and what related activities are developing among Danish actors.
