Ethnographic accounts of money, debt, and politics

The seminar will have presenters working at the intersection of economic sociology and urban ethnography based in Argentina and Brazil. Ariel Wilkis (UNSAM – Buenos Aires) will speak about his forthcoming book How Finance Shape Democracy: Household debt as political and moral test in Argentina and Gustavo Prieto (Federal University of Sao Paulo) and Elisa Verdi (Federal University of Sao Paulo) will present their work in progress “Criminal Urbanization: Land, Housing and Everyday Life in Brazil”.

The seminar extends collaboration initiated in the context of the DFF Funded Project “Post-pandemic Poverty: Debt and the Feminisation of Finance in Marginal Sites”, which counted with Marie Kolling as PI and José Ossandón as senior researcher.

This activity is co-hosted and supported by WETO (Work, Expertise, Technology and Organization Group Department of Organization Copenhagen Business School) and DIIS (the Danish Institute for International Studies).
