President-elect Donald Trump is leaning in to his desire for the United States to buy Greenland, an implausible proposal, but an early preview of the attention-grabbing news cycles to come in a second Trump term that will again test fellow Republicans, Democrats, the media and, well, the world.

“It’s far-fetched and unrealistic and … somewhat frightening at a number of levels,” said Ulrik Pram Gad, senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies in Copenhagen.
