    Beskrivelse

Gæsteforelæsning for MA studerende på LAU

Why did the Western Intelligence Community not discover the coming of ISIL? Why could the CIA not predict the Iranian revolution in 1979? Why was the American Security Establishment wrong on Saddam Hussein and Weapons of Mass Destruction in 1991 and again in 2003? And why was 9/11 not foiled despite the necessary data available? Humanities and Social Science research shares the same challenges in their dependency on having reliable sources, valid methods for gathering information and data, and models for their interpretation. Looking into the failures of the US Intelligence Community and the discussions on how to develop reliable methods and theories of interpretation we will discuss the field for discussions on sources (of errors) and theories of interpretation in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
