The objective of the international workshop is to explore the past, present and possible future roles of cultural property protection (CPP) in the context of NATO-led military operations and training missions as well as in the context of NATO as an organization for facilitating development in doctrine and operational capabilities among Allied nations and partners. The goal is to stimulate thinking on CPP in NATO and to suggest NATO policy, doctrine and training concepts on CPP. Following the final workshop, a final report with the outcome documents will be presented to allied nations and all relevant stakeholders. The workshop will be held in Sarajevo, Bosnia—Herzegovina 15—18 June 2015. The workshop brings together subject matter experts and NATO stakeholders to address a number of issues related to CPP in NATO-led missions, including: Lessons identified from NATO-led missions; CPP and strategic communication; SHAPE J9 CIMIC as keeper of CPP at SHAPE on behalf of ACO; Geospatial mapping/CPP data-layer for NATO Operational Maps; NATO, CPP and International Law; NATO CPP Terminology; development of NATO CPP policy and doctrine.
